A tie breaker is in order!  Between Luna and Remus, who should I draw next?  (I will be drawing all HP characters over time. There are no loosers. :D)

Here’s a little more info about my wand:

Photobucket

Core:

Unicorn

Unicorn hair generally produces the most consistent magic, and is least subject to fluctuations and blockages. Wands with unicorn cores are generally the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. They are the most faithful of all wands, and usually remain strongly attached to their first owner, irrespective of whether he or she was an accomplished witch or wizard.

Minor disadvantages of unicorn hair are that they do not make the most powerful wands (although the wand wood may compensate) and that they are prone to melancholy if seriously mishandled, meaning that the hair may ‘die’ and need replacing.

Wood:

Larch

Strong, durable and warm in colour, larch has long been valued as an attractive and powerful wand wood. Its reputation for instilling courage and confidence in the user has ensured that demand has always outstripped supply. This much sought-after wand is, however, hard to please in the matter of ideal owners, and trickier to handle than many imagine. I find that it always creates wands of hidden talents and unexpected effects, which likewise describes the master who deserves it. It is often the case that the witch or wizard who belongs to the larch wand may never realise the full extent of their considerable talents until paired with it, but that they will then make an exceptional match.

Flexibility:

Surprisingly Swishy

Wand flexibility or rigidity denotes the degree of adaptability and willingness to change possessed by the wand-and-owner pair – although, again, this factor ought not to be considered separately from the wand wood, core and length, nor of the owner’s life experience and style of magic, all of which will combine to make the wand in question unique.

Continuing in Gryffindor

•September 9, 2011 • 4 Comments

So, I think I’ve settled to stay with Gryffindor.  I still feel I seriously lack Gryff qualities.  I’m far from brave, or courageous.  I am loyal and chivalrous but I lack the nerve.

However, Ravenclaw, I’m intelligent, definitely creative seeing as my blog is mainly for art and I enjoy learning. My wit can be a little lacking cause I’m usually drifting off in space so it’s just rare for me to use that wit muscle. 😛

But~ if Rowling says I am… still going to try a new account to get into Ravenclaw.  I’ll maintain both. 😛

As far as how my experience has been going in #Pottermore: pretty enjoyable.

I’ve finished the first book.  Missing one card though so I’ve gotta go lookin for that but I loved reading all the additional info Rowling wrote for Pottermore.

The dueling is still down but I believe when it comes up I should be able to hold my own.  I’m averaging 96 on my spell casting so I shouldn’t do too bad. 😛

The potions is fun, however, can be frustrating.  The objects that need to be poured are the worse.  Trying to measure an amount with this is really difficult especially when you’re under the scrutiny of a timer.  I’ve also realized that there are two steps to the potion making.  Before, after brewing a potion it loads back up the potion as if I have to brew it again (and I’m thinking I just brewed this).  Well, there is a second step to finally complete the potion.  Woops. Lol. Guess it wasn’t really stuck on brewing like I thought.  Besides that I’ve successfully brewed a few potions so that’s an achievment. 😀

As for glitches, I find it funny that if I mess up a potion I can just hit the back button and start all over again.  Also, I did have a cauldron blow up on me and I did not loose 5 house points nor the cauldron itself.  I guess that was a glitch in my favor but i’d still like that fixed.

I’m hoping to see a pottermore mobile site or an app at sometime in the future.  I think brewing on the go would be a blast and would make keeping track of potions far easier.  Right now the potions are unpredictable.  Says 1-3hrs and I had plenty of time before work to get one brewed but lost it as I had to leave.  Than the inbetween time to check on it is an hr and a half.

So, all in all it’s been fun.  I have submitted an art piece of Severus so I’m hoping to see that online.  Yey for more reasons to draw HP fanart!

Finally In #Pottermore

•September 4, 2011 • 2 Comments

So after weeks of waiting I finally got my letter to enter #Pottermore.  I registered on Day 2.

So far my experience has been a good one.  Some of the flash on the site loads rather slow and my ad-blocker seems to be blocking something, not sure what it is.  As others have mentioned, music definitely needs to accompany this site, or at least sound effects.  I would assume music/sound effects will show up upon the official opening date.  A flash oriented site as this is commonly seen with music so I wouldn’t put it past the development team to include this eventually.

The additional information J.K.Rowling has added has been a real treat.  Learning about the Dursley’s, McGonagall, and more about Wand lore is extremely intriguing.  So far I’ve only just gotten to my common room at this point so I can’t elaborate on the later chapters.

As for my choices for Wand and House:

Wand: Larch with Unicorn Core, Twelve Inches, Surprisingly Swishy

House: Gryffindor

Right now I’d much like to go in a corner and cry.  Gryffindor!  Seriously!  I’ve always felt I was a Ravenclaw but I can see myself with qualities of a Gryffindor for sure.  I can definitely say a few of the questions I was really on the edge of what to choose.  Perhaps when I create another account (which I probably will as I’d rather my points go to Ravenclaw), I’ll choose the ones I might have gone with instead.

So far that has been my biggest let down. lol  However, so long as I can learn about the other houses and not be limited to learning about Gryffindor (seeing as we all already know SO much about that one) I won’t mind it so much. 😛

I’ve tried practicing a spell a few times.  Interesting enough but confusing at first.  As well as tried a few practice potions.  I can see where the frustration has come out of.  Right now mine is that I was writing this blog waiting for my 3mins to transpire on my potion only for it to fail because I left it too long. D:  That’s not going to go over well if I’m at work and can’t get back to a potion.  Maybe if they lengthen the “sitting” time of a finished potion.  Also, a lot of the flash is wonky.  I go to “wave my wand” and it lags and I can’t even tell if it’s working till sparks are flying and my wand is still sitting on the desk. lol  Again, BETA, so expected.  Just tried another one.  Let’s see if it works this time. 🙂

Few Minutes Later:

Success!

And I just went ahead and brewed my first “official” potion.  This time, “Antidote for Common Poisons”.  Kinda expensive this one.  Needed a damn Unicorn Horn.  21Galleons, jeez! ;P

But after completing it (which the flash worked much better this time around, save the wand waving still), it allows you to come back later.  You view a status menu which shows your currently brewing potions and the time remaining.  It works just like a Facebook game in that respect (as expected from hearing reports on the matter).  I did just try something, thinking that if I bought another cauldron I could brew another potion at the same time.  Apparently, you can not (at least right now).  You can only brew one potion at a time regardless if you have more cauldrons waiting to be used.  I bought a Copper Cauldron just to try that out but I can not brew another potion till my current one is finished.  Kinda sucks. 😦

Anyways, so far it seems pretty nifty.  Not sure what I’m going to do about this house situation. lol  Perhaps in October I will create a new account and try for Ravenclaw.  As for the blog, it will remain as FlightCentaur’s Art Blog.  I will make an update as to my official username come October if I indeed want out of Gryffindor.

OTP!!! However, I do support HermionexSnape. >3 That one works quite well. Blew my mind. XD

Anywho, love these two. Just before the “Snape’s Worst Nightmare”. Sev is SMILING! I always felt he probably smiled a lot, and laughed, around Lily. ❤

More of that colouring style. Diggin it~!
